First, check whether a transaction exists
Open your wallet activity and its link to the network explorer. Note the transaction ID and status. An error on the swap screen does not prove that a transaction executed or that you paid a network fee.
- No transaction appears: check whether you rejected the request or the connection failed. Refresh the page and verify the network before trying again.
- Pending: the outcome is not known yet. Read your wallet's official guidance before trying to speed up or replace it; avoid stacking repeated attempts.
- Failed or reverted: review the reason shown by the explorer, if available. Failed execution on Ethereum can consume gas even when the swap does not complete.
- Confirmed: check which action was confirmed and which tokens were transferred. It may be an approval rather than the swap.
A block explorer shows transaction status and transfers. The Ethereum gas documentation explains execution costs.
If the transaction is still pending
Compare the wallet status with the explorer for the same network. If both show pending, the transaction may still execute. A long wait does not mean it was cancelled.
When supported for that transaction and network, MetaMask's speed-up or cancel options try to replace the pending transaction and may require another network fee. They do not guarantee that the replacement will confirm before the original. Follow the official speed-up and cancellation guide and check the outcome again. This process cannot cancel a transaction that has already confirmed.
An approval does not complete the swap
An approval allows a contract to use an amount of a token. By itself, it does not credit the asset you wanted to receive. Check your activity before signing another request. Read what permissions you grant to a DEX.
If the swap did confirm, check the balance on the correct network and the received token's contract. Uniswap explains the difference between approval, swapping and displaying a balance.
If the operation cannot execute
Check your balance for network fees. If you hold tokens but lack the asset needed to pay for execution, read I have USDT but no gas.
Token restrictions can also prevent a swap. Uniswap's swap-failed guidance describes interface errors and unusual token behaviour. Those possible causes do not automatically diagnose a Latin Link error.
Do not blindly increase slippage tolerance or grant larger allowances. If the cause remains unclear, keep the network, transaction ID and error message for the service's official support. Never share your recovery phrase.
