A USDT balance may not be enough to transact
The token you want to move and the asset used to pay for execution can be different. A standard Ethereum transaction pays its network fee in ETH. Holding USDT does not automatically replace that balance.
MetaMask explains the insufficient-funds error. Some wallet flows allow fees to be paid with other tokens. Check what the specific operation offers; do not assume that feature is available in every application or network.
Check these four details
- Selected network: read the full network name in both the wallet and application.
- Active account: confirm that you are viewing the address that will send the transaction.
- Fee balance on that same network: holding ETH on Ethereum does not mean it is available on another chain.
- Transaction estimate: review the displayed fee before confirming. No universal amount guarantees enough gas for every transfer or swap.
Gas costs depend on execution and network fees. If an approval is followed by a swap, review the cost of each step your wallet requests.
If the fee balance is missing
First establish which asset the flow requires and which network your destination supports. If you choose to transfer that asset from another account or service, verify the withdrawal network, destination and costs there. Do not choose a different network just because it looks cheaper.
Latin Link swaps crypto you already hold in a wallet. It does not let you buy gas with a card or bank transfer. You also cannot count on another swap solving the problem if that swap itself requires a fee you cannot pay.
If you already submitted a transaction
Before repeating it, follow the failed-swap checklist. If you think the balance is on another chain, read USDT sent on the wrong network.
Stop if you do not recognise the network or contract requesting permission. Never give your recovery phrase to someone offering to unlock a balance.
