Review the current quote and price impact immediately before confirming. Smaller trades and deeper-liquidity pairs can reduce price impact, but market and network conditions can still change the executed result.
Slippage and price impact are different
Price impact is the change your own trade causes against available liquidity. Slippage is the difference between the quoted and executed result. Tolerance limits the additional change you accept; it is not a fee and does not improve liquidity by itself.
Hypothetical example
If a quote estimates 100 units and tolerance is 1%, the simplified minimum is 99. This does not mean you always pay a one-unit fee. Check the actual minimum shown for that transaction.
Before confirming
- Compare the same network, contracts and amount with a current quote.
- Review price impact, minimum received and gas separately.
- If you reduce size to compare, check total costs again; splitting trades can add fees.
- Do not blindly increase tolerance to force a failed trade.
Lower tolerance can prevent execution if conditions change. Higher tolerance permits a worse result within that margin. No percentage suits every token.
